Johnny Jones
Associate Professor of social work

Biography

Dr. Johnny Jones earned his MSW with a concentration in social work with Families, Individuals, and Groups from the Carver School of Church Social Work at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. After four years working at Georgia Baptist Children’s Homes & Family Ministries, Inc. as a program coordinator and later, as South Area Director of Ministries, he returned to school and earned his Ph.D. in social work from Florida State University with an emphasis on the administration and organization of human services. Dr. Jones has over 20 years of experience in social work and social work education. He has been on faculty at social work programs at the University of South Carolina, Baylor University, Southeastern University, and the University of North Florida before coming to King University. He has taught many social work classes across the BSW, MSW, and Ph.D. spectrum. He has directed two research and training centers, two MSW programs, and an Office of Sponsored Program Awards and Research. He was also a Chair of the social work program at Southeastern University. Dr. Jones has authored 11 publications in peer-reviewed journals. He has co-authored an introduction to social work textbook, which is now in its 2nd edition, with Oxford University Press and a book chapter on administration. He has presented or co-presented 23 peer-reviewed presentations at national conferences and has been the Principal or Co-Principal Investigator on 14 grants and contracts totaling in excess of $35 million dollars.
