King University, First Presbyterian to Present Bluegrass Mass

BRISTOL, Tenn., March 11, 2019 — King University’s Symphonic Choir and Collegium Musicum will join the First Presbyterian Church Sanctuary Choir for a specially arranged mass on Wednesday, April 10, featuring spiritual texts, gospel hymns and an acclaimed bluegrass band.

The mass will begin at 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.

“Come Away to the Skies: A High Lonesome Bluegrass Mass” will showcase music arranged by Tim Sharp and Wes Ramsey, two classically trained musicians. Sharp will lead the program and play banjo with The Chuck Nation Band of Gainesville, Georgia. The band is well known for its distinctive sound and has toured internationally and throughout the U.S., performing at such renowned venues as Carnegie Hall and the Ryman Auditorium.

Professor of Music Pat Flannagan will conduct the mass. The event is part of 2019 Spirit Week at King University.
