King University, Craig’s One-Hour Cleaners Collecting and Sharing Coats for Kids
King University and Craig’s One-Hour Cleaners are again partnering to accept donations of new and clean, gently used winter coats for elementary through middle school-age children.
“Giving a new or previously owned coat is a small act that makes a big difference,” said Ashley Albertson, coordinator of Student Engagement. “Feeling more comfortable and confident is a boost to anyone on a day-to-day basis, but it’s especially true for a child. We love hosting this event with Craig’s Cleaners and local partners each year because we get to see lots of community members wanting to support others in our area, and lots of smiles from participating families.”
Those who want to contribute a coat can drop them off at the following locations:
- Craig’s Cleaners – 1375 Volunteer Parkway #12, Bristol, Tennessee
- King University – 11 Maclellan Hall, 2613 Tadlock Road, Bristol, Tennessee
- First Presbyterian Church – 701 Florida Avenue, Bristol, Tennessee
- NorthStar Baptist Church – 2455 Kings Mill Pike, Bristol, Virginia
Monetary donations to support the purchase of new coats are also welcome.
Collected coats will be cleaned and distributed, free-of-charge, on Saturday, Nov. 11, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Maclellan Hall on King’s Bristol campus. Games, food, and activities will be offered during the day. Attendees will also receive a ticket, free-of-charge, to the women’s basketball game at 2 p.m. that afternoon in King’s Student Center Complex.
Anyone present with a child, or with proper identification for a child, will receive a coat. Attendees will be given a number on a first-come, first-served basis, and will have the opportunity to visit a separate room where coats can be selected in privacy. There is no charge to attend.
