King University’s Knoxville Campus and WIVK 107.7FM Announce Winner of the 2018 Degree of Success Scholarship

November 5, 2018

KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Nov. 5, 2018 — Sheila Fritts of Harriman, Tennessee, has been named the winner of the ninth annual Degree of Success Scholarship, sponsored by King University — Knoxville WIVK 107.7 FM. The news of Fritts’ selection was announced during a live remote and a King open house on Thursday, Nov. 1, at King University’s Hardin Valley campus.

The Degree of Success Scholarship contest offers the chance for an adult student to pursue an undergraduate degree, free-of-charge, through King’s Adult Studies and Graduate programs (AGS). Entrants submitted essays on the importance of achieving a degree from King and career plans following graduation. The winner was then selected by committee.

Fritts’ winning essay focused on why she wanted to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration degree.
“I am overwhelmed and immensely filled with gratitude for this incredibly generous, much-needed scholarship,” said Fritts. “It is my desire to work in a patient support position, and upon successfully completing my bachelor’s degree, this opportunity will open many doors for my new career in the ever-changing world of health care.”

Fritts will graduate from Pellissippi State Community College in December, and will begin her degree program in January at King’s Knoxville campus.
“It’s wonderful to be able to provide Sheila the chance to return to college and further her education and career with a degree from King University,” said Kristi Reynolds, assistant vice president of enrollment for King’s Adult Studies and Graduate programs, Knoxville. “Our programs are designed to help adult students pursue a degree and advance in their career, while still maintaining a positive balance with work and family commitments. We look forward to welcoming Sheila to the King community and wish her the very best in her studies.”
