King University — Knoxville and WIVK 107.7 FM Team Up to Offer Degree of Success Scholarship

September 25, 2018

KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Sept. 25, 2018 — Want to go to college, attend class in a convenient location, study on a schedule that won’t compete with other commitments, and achieve a degree — all on a paid scholarship?

WIVK 107.7 FM listeners, here’s your chance.
King University — Knoxville and WIVK 107.7 FM are again teaming up to offer the Degree of Success Scholarship, providing one hopeful individual with the opportunity to attend or return to a degree program on a full tuition scholarship. The winner will also receive his or her course books and a $50 gift certificate from King’s Tornado Alley Bookstore

“Our Graduate and Adult Studies and Online Programs are designed for learners who are looking to further their education ― and enhance their career potential — without sacrificing work or family obligations,” said Kristi Reynolds, assistant vice president for King’s Graduate & Adult Studies.

“The chance to achieve a degree in an affordable, accessible way helps professionals throughout our community start a new career path or advance in their current organization.”

Applications for the Degree of Success Scholarship will be accepted starting Friday, Sept. 28, at www.wivk.com and at http://degreeofsuccess.king.edu. Applications will be open through midnight on Thursday, Oct. 25. Five finalists will be selected and invited to attend a WIVK live remote and a King open house on Monday, Nov. 1, from 5-7 p.m. at the Knoxville site in Hardin Valley, where the winner will be announced.

The contest is open to any new King University applicant with an associate degree or a minimum of 60 earned semester hours from a regionally accredited college or university. Available programs of study for the scholarship include Business Administration, Communication, Elementary Education with K-5 licensure, Healthcare Administration, and RN-BSN. The contest winner will be able to choose a convenient King location to attend, including sites in Knoxville, Morristown, and Sevierville.

Sam Mitchell, who won the 2017 Degree of Success Scholarship, began his studies this past January at King’s Knoxville campus. As a youth pastor based in Knoxville, Mitchell wanted to find a way to pursue studies in the field of Psychology without taking time away from his students.

“Being on campus only one night a week has been really beneficial,” Mitchell said. “I love psychology and wanted to invest time in learning more, but in a way that allowed me to continue to serve others. My class schedule frees up time to where I can still eat lunch with my students and go to their sporting events in the evenings. That’s important to me and I’m glad King has provided a way to do both!”
