Registration for the fall semester of King University’s Lifelong Learning program is now open.

The annual program offers adults 60 years of age and older the opportunity to take a course from a range of undergraduate concentrations. Participation is free, and students are not required to take tests.

Courses in the upcoming semester span studies in English, Fine Arts, History, Music, Philosophy, Religion, and Theater, and will be taught in person on King’s campus in Bristol, Tennessee. Topics covered include a broad review of Shakespeare’s works, American History during the Great Depression and World War II, the History of Jazz, American Folk Music, and more.

“Learning in community is far more engaging than tackling a subject alone, and we’re excited to offer these courses as a way to foster a lifelong sense of curiosity,” said Matt Peltier, Ph.D., assistant provost.  “Our adult learners love being in the classroom and interacting with current students, something that helps share wisdom and experience between generations.”

Lifelong Learners must enroll to audit classes before they begin the fall semester on Monday, Aug. 25. Books are not required to audit courses, but for those students who wish to purchase them, are available at books.king.edu.
