Faith in Theatre

June 17, 2019

Young people with an interest in theater are invited to King University this summer to learn, laugh, develop artistic skills and grow in faith during Faith in Theatre, a training program that will conclude with the production of a full-length comedy.

The two-week program will begin on June 17 and will include workshops each weekday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for youngsters between the ages of 4 and 7. Those between the ages of 7 and 18 are invited to participate in the Junior & Teen component, which will be held each weekday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. The groups will come together at the conclusion of camp to present “Changing Charming,” the sequel to the internationally produced “Chasing Charming.” Performances are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday, June 28, and 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 29.

Led by Assistant Professor Alaska Reece Vance and a team of professional instructors, the camp will be held in a Christian environment and is designed for both seasoned actors and newcomers to the stage. Theater games, one-on-one coaching sessions, daily devotions, rehearsals, and classes in stage combat and improvisation are planned to help participants build skills and confidence.

The cost of the two-week camp is $300, which includes a production T-shirt and lunch each day. Those who register before May 20 will receive a $50 discount. A $75 discount is available to siblings who register. The final registration deadline is June 17.

Internship applications are currently being accepted.

Please email Vance at [email protected] for additional information or to register.
