Choral Arts Camp

June 20, 2022

King University is currently recruiting students for its 2022 Choral Arts Camp, a week-long event that will allow young participants to improve their vocal skills, work with other singers, and enjoy an afternoon concert series.

The camp will be held June 20-24 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the King campus and is open to all rising fourth through 12th graders. Participants will present a final concert on Friday, June 14, at 7 p.m. in King Memorial Chapel. Students will learn music for the concert during their week at camp. An afternoon snack will be provided, but students will be responsible for bringing their own lunch each day.

Directors for the camp are Shea A. Clay, Jane DeLoach Morison, and Valerie Pickard, all of whom have extensive teaching experience.

Clay is an assistant professor of Music at King University where she is the director of choral activities. She is also the primary faculty member in the vocal/general music education program. Morison also is on the faculty at King and has directed and taught at the Montreat Worship and Music Conference, Barter Theater Youth Academy, ETSU Summer Piano Camp, and Virginia Suzuki Institute.  She currently serves as the Virginia ACDA Membership Chairman. Pickard currently teaches elementary music and conducts the Bristol Tennessee Children’s Choir. She also has taught private lessons and directed numerous church youth and children’s choirs.

The cost to attend is $125, and the registration deadline is May 20, 2022.  For additional information, please email [email protected]
