BRISTOL, Tenn. — King University officials confirmed today that a fire broke out overnight in Sells Hall, one of the university’s historic administrative buildings located on the Bristol campus. The building has suffered extensive damage. No injuries have been reported.
The fire was reported by campus security, who immediately alerted the Bristol Tennessee Fire Department. Firefighters responded within minutes and worked through the early morning hours to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby structures.
“We are saddened by this news but profoundly grateful that everyone is safe,” said Andrew Tooley, president of King University. “We want to extend our gratitude to the many community members who have reached out with offers of support. We especially thank the fire departments of Bristol Tennessee, Virginia, and surrounding cities for responding quickly and successfully containing the fire to Sells Hall.”
The cause of the fire is under investigation by local authorities in coordination with the university’s facilities and safety teams.
