An interactive classroom demonstration of Craik & Lockhart's levels-of-processing framework, comparing memory for words judged on shallow structural features versus deeper semantic meaning.

Students judge a series of words using either a shallow, structural question (is the word in capital letters?) or a deeper, semantic question (would this item be useful in daily life?), then complete a surprise recognition test. Results compare recognition accuracy across the two encoding conditions and let students download their trial-level data as a CSV.
