2019 Dogwood Homecoming Weekend Highlights
Thank you to everyone who attended the Dogwood Homecoming Weekend festivities. It was so much fun to see the campus filled with alumni, faculty, staff, and students. Highlights from the weekend included brunch where we recognized the 2019 Alumni Award recipients. Congratulations to Dr. David Rudd (’08) winner of the Young Alumni Achievement Award, Alice Dokter (’68) winner of the Legacy Award, Jewel Bell, winner of the first ever Honorary Alumnus Award, and Dr. Miller Liston (’59) the winner of the Distinguished Alumnus Award.
Alumni enjoyed a time of fellowship at the morning Chapel Service, joining together to sing in the alumni choir, perusing the artwork of students, running in the Dogwood Days 5K Race, and talking with classmates and faculty at the meet and greet. There were also many athletic events taking place including Baseball, Alumni Women’s Volleyball, Softball, Alumni Men’s and Women’s Soccer, as well as Alumni Women’s Basketball.
Other highlights include The Spitfire Grill theatre production, disc golf tournament, the Homecoming Picnic with inflatables, balloon animals and face painting, live music by Shannan Miller (’00), snow cones and kettle corn. The Athletic Hall of Fame Reception and Induction followed the picnic where 1989-93 Men’s Soccer player, Jeremy Tittle and 1994-98 Men’s Basketball Player, Travis Mains and the 2001 Women’s Soccer Team and 1957 Men’s Soccer Team were inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. The day was continued with reunions from the classes of 1959, 1969, 1974, 1984, 1999, and 2014. The final event for the live premier of the Alumni Documentary, King’s Rogues.
