King University to Provide 24/7 Online Tutoring through Upswing

BRISTOL, Tenn., Oct. 15, 2015 – King University is partnering with Upswing, an online tutoring platform that gives students access to online tutors at any time of the day, seven days a week at no cost to them. Upswing will play an important role in the University’s mission to provide students with an education that supports achievement and transformation.

“We are excited to partner with Upswing,” says Kim Holloway, associate professor and chair of Technical and Professional Communication, and director of the Academic Center for Excellence (ACE). “This collaboration will benefit our traditional students as well as our graduate, professional, and online students.”

The new partnership offers students at King University an easy way to schedule tutoring sessions with an Upswing tutor or an on-campus tutor. Upswing will provide more than 2,900 King University students with access to academic support through its online tutoring platform beyond the ACE hours of operation. Students will be able to use their school login to access Upswing, so integration is seamless. Online and in-person tutoring sessions can be scheduled through Upswing, be it with one of King’s academic coaches, or with Upswing's network of coaches.

This partnership with Upswing will help King continue to serve four campuses and 10 instructional locations across Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. Students will be able to receive help with classes at times that work best for their varying schedules. Upswing’s innovative platform is bringing in fresh technology and features like video and audio chat to ensure a great tutoring experience. The Admin Dashboard will help faculty track student progress and boost overall retention rates. Upswing is dedicated to using technology to increase student understanding of classroom material.

Currently, students can access their personalized Upswing portal at during the fall 2015 semester.

Upswing will continue to work with King University to ensure when the spring comes around, students will be able to log in to the platform and access not only Upswing tutors, but King University tutors as well.
