King University’s Samantha Taylor to Host Senior Photography & Design Exhibit “Layers Reveal” April 18 at Studio 6
BRISTOL, Tenn., April 13, 2017 – King University senior Samantha Taylor will host her senior thesis exhibition showcasing 16 pieces from her photography and design collection, “Layers Reveal.” The exhibit will take place at Studio 6 Apparel located at 509 State Street in Downtown Bristol, Virginia, on Tuesday, April 18 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public and attendees will have the opportunity to meet the artist.
A native of Newcastle, England, Samantha Taylor is majoring in Digital Media Art & Design specializing in Photography and Graphic Design with a minor in Business Administration.
“The theme of my exhibit, “Layers Reveal,” takes my two passions of photography and graphic design and mixes them together,” said Taylor. “During the summer of 2016, I interned as a fashion marketing/social media strategy intern with Jia Collection, a fashion house in New York City. This experience gave me the inspiration to join the two together – fashion photography with graphic design.”
Each of her art selections will showcase a fashion model and descriptive words about the model as a person. “It kind of invokes a feeling of [both the model] and the fashion,” commented Taylor.
Following her graduation from King University in April 2017, Taylor says she has her sights set on fashion photography. “My career goals after graduation [are to complete] a master’s [degree], and then get a job with a fashion company as a photographer, preferably in New York City, if not London. I am drawn to photography being a capturer and a designer, maintaining high detail throughout my work.”
