Simple Ways to be Safe and Secure on Campus

King University is more than an institution of higher learning; it is a community – a small city on 135 acres within the Bristol, Tenn., city limits. King’s Safety and Security Department is onsite 24/7 to provide the protection of students, staff, faculty, and visitors.

There are a few simple things you can do to help provide your protection and that of others.

  1. Know how to reach King Security. Add the phone number for King Security into your cell phone: 423-652-4333. The Security Office is open 24 hours per day, 365 days per year, and is located on the street side of Parks Hall.
  2. Familiarize yourself with the Security Department website. Add http://security.king.edu to your favorites list for easy access. The Security website is a one-stop-shop for all your safety needs including a map of King’s main campus and details on campus parking. If you don’t see what you are looking for quickly, simply click on the Ask-A-Question tab and submit your question.
  3. Find out about all King schedule changes by simply signing up for the Emergency Notification System.  King University uses an emergency notification system that allows students, faculty, and staff to receive schedule changes and University-wide emergency notifications on their cell phones and email. In order to receive emergency notification from King University you will need to create an account in the system. If you wish to participate, please visit http://www.king.edu/security/emergencynotification.aspx.

Receiving emergency notifications is a voluntary, opt-in system. The system will not be used to send advertisements. User information will not be shared with third parties outside King University. There is no cost to participate in the emergency notification system, other than normal fees your mobile service provider may charge for receiving text messages. If you prefer not to receive text messages, you have the option of receiving only email messages.

Unless you are signing up for email alerts only, please have your cell phone turned on when you register. A verification message and code will be sent to your phone. You will need to enter that code on the computer screen to complete your registration. After you have created an account, you may use the username and password you created to login and manage your account. Questions about the system can be directed to the Safety and Security Department by email at security@king.edu.
