BRISTOL, Tenn., July 31, 2017 – Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center (SVHEC)
in Abingdon, Va., will be the site of an upcoming information session on King University’s
Graduate, Professional, and Online Studies (GPS) degree options for adult learners.
The event will take place on Thursday, Aug. 10 at SVHEC’s room 103 from 11 a.m. to
1 p.m. and 4:30 to 6 p.m.
King is making it easier for working adults throughout East Tennessee and Southwest
Virginia in their quest to obtain a college degree. The sessions, conducted by King
University enrollment counselors, will provide information on how you can complete
your major coursework through King’s GPS program in as few as 16 months.
“Extending one’s education to include a bachelor’s or master’s degree provides increased
career opportunities, whether a student is seeking to advance his or her career or
they are transitioning from their current area of expertise into a new one,” said

King University offers two degree programs at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education
Center. Applications currently are being accepted for the Bachelor of Social Work
(BSW) for both fall 2017 and spring 2018. Applications are begin accepted through
Oct. 1, 2017 for spring 2018 for King’s Master of Science in Nursing Family Nurse
Those attending will have the opportunity to learn about financial aid options and
receive a free transcript assessment. They will also be able to meet with King faculty
and enrollment counselors.
