King University & WIVK FM 107.7 Name Sam Mitchell the 2017 Degree of Success Scholarship Winner

KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Nov. 3, 2017 – King University and Knoxville’s WIVK FM 107.7 announced Sam Mitchell of Knoxville as the winner of the eighth annual Degree of Success Scholarship Contest promotion on Nov. 2, 2017.

Upon hearing the reveal that he was the recipient of the free scholarship to King University, Sam Mitchell exclaimed, “This is awesome. It’s really exciting. I’m very happy; it’s an awesome opportunity.”

Thanks to winning the Degree of Success Scholarship Contest, Mitchell plans to pursue his Bachelor of Science in Psychology degree through King University’s Hardin Valley campus in Knoxville, Tenn. In addition to a full-tuition scholarship to King, he will also receive his textbooks free of charge.

When asked what his plans are, Mitchell said, “I’m hoping to counsel in the school system. That’s been my plan. I’m a student pastor at Mount Olive Baptist Church. We have quite a few kids at our church who come from a home life or something else that is a pretty bad background. I’ve gotten to walk with them through that. I want to continue to do that in the school system as well as in the church.”

“We are honored to offer this opportunity to make a remarkable difference in someone's life,” stated Kristi Reynolds, assistant vice president of GPS Enrollment Management for Knoxville at King University. “Whether you are searching to make yourself more marketable, further a career change, or serve as an inspiration to your family, it is never too late to pursue the dream of a college education.

“Students often have barriers, real and perceived, to completing an undergraduate degree. Our winner of the 2017 Degree of Success Scholarship, Sam Mitchell, is an example of how you can set a goal and work hard each day to attain your dreams one step at a time,” said Reynolds.

“I am so thankful from where God has brought me and cannot wait to see what His plans [are] for my future,” said Mitchell.
