Knoxville’s WIVK 107.7 & King University Kickoff 7th Annual Scholarship Contest

Knoxville’s WIVK 107.7 & King University Kickoff 7th Annual Scholarship Contest

BRISTOL, Tenn., September 30, 2016 – One of WIVK FM 107.7’s listeners will be the lucky winner of a full scholarship to King University. WIVK and King University are sponsoring their seventh annual scholarship contest. The promotion will begin on Saturday, Oct. 1 and will run through Friday, Oct. 28. All applications must be submitted before midnight on Oct. 28, at which time five finalists will be chosen from the pool of qualified applicants. The finalists will be invited to attend the open house/live remote on Thursday, Nov. 3 at 4-6:30 p.m. at King’s Knoxville campus at The Village at Hardin Valley where the winner will be announced.

After being named last year’s winner, Brandon “Chase” Nipper exclaimed, “[Winning this scholarship] will change my life for the better. It will continue to develop me academically and intellectually. Public speaking is what I want to do. I want to make a difference in law enforcement. As a police officer, what I would like to do is work toward an administrative role. I want to make policies and make certain we have officers who are intelligent and articulate, and able to police in a 21st century America. We need that image now more than ever; I want to be a part of that to be able to better serve the community and build those partnerships. I think this will propel me forward.”

The Degree of Success Scholarship promotion is geared toward adults who would like to realize their dream of obtaining an undergraduate degree at no cost through King’s Graduate & Professional Studies and Online Programs (GPS). The winner of the scholarship contest will be able to choose a convenient King location to begin their degree program including Knoxville/Hardin Valley, Blount County, Harriman, Morristown, Sevierville, or Strawberry Plains.

The winner will receive a full-tuition paid scholarship, including books, to one of King’s GPS degree programs including Business Administration, Communication, Criminal Justice, Elementary Education, Healthcare Administration, Information Technology, Interdisciplinary Studies, Psychology, or RN-BSN.

“Often we have prospective students ask us about the availability of scholarships for adults. Adult-learners may not have the financial support in place they need to pursue an undergraduate degree, and this all-tuition paid scholarship will remove the financial barriers for one lucky listener,” says Kristi Reynolds, assistant vice president of GPS Enrollment Management for Knoxville at King University. “King is excited to offer this opportunity to the greater-Knoxville region and encourages the community to consider returning to school to complete your education goal.”

The public is invited to come join in the celebration when the winner is announced during an open house and live radio remote, as well as tour King’s Hardin Valley campus on Thursday, Nov. 3 from 4-6:30 p.m. Those attending will have the opportunity to meet with faculty, staff, admissions, and financial aid representatives, and learn about available GPS programs.
