King University to Give FREE Scholarship for Bachelor’s Degree to the Next Winner of 13th Annual College Dream Scholarship Contest

BRISTOL, Tenn., Jan. 31, 2018 – King University and partner 98.5 WTFM are celebrating the kickoff of the 13th annual College Dream Scholarship Contest. Together, King and WTFM will make someone’s dream of earning their bachelor’s degree a reality with a full-tuition scholarship to King University. Applications are accepted Feb. 5 through March 2 at midnight.

“We’re excited to help someone walk across the stage at graduation and receive a diploma for a bachelor’s degree. Working with 98.5 WTFM, this opportunity will make a remarkable difference in someone's life,” said Jon Harr, interim vice president for Enrollment Management at King.

During the past 12 years, King University has helped 12 individuals realize their dream of obtaining a bachelor’s degree at no cost through King’s working adult focused program, Graduate, Professional, and Online Studies Programs (GPS), featuring class schedules and learning environments designed for students with full-time jobs and families. The scholarship contest is open to anyone who has always dreamed of completing his or her bachelor’s degree.

“98.5 WTFM is thrilled to be a part of this promotion,” said Tiffany Hickman, general sales manager for 98.5 WTFM. “This is a life-changing opportunity, and we are excited to partner with King University! We recognize that education is a significant factor in personal and professional growth, and we are thankful to provide this to a lucky listener in our region.”

The King University / WTFM College Dream promotion offers the opportunity for one deserving entrant to complete his or her bachelor’s degree through King’s GPS program. The winner will choose his or her degree path from among six bachelor’s degree options: Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Elementary Education, Healthcare Administration, RN-BSN, or Social Work for fall 2018 at King’s main campus in Bristol, Tenn., as well as Abingdon, Va., Kingsport, Tenn., Morristown, Tenn., and Richlands, Va.

In addition, the winner will also receive their course books as well as a $50 gift certificate from the King University Tornado Alley Shoppe.

“The winner will be able to complete his or her major coursework one class at a time, one night a week in a workable and convenient environment. Whether you are searching to make yourself more marketable, further a career change, or serve as an inspiration to your family, it is never too late to pursue the dream of a college education,” Harr added.

King University and WTFM will announce the five finalists on March 8. WTFM listeners will then have the opportunity to vote for their favorite finalist from March 9-16. The candidate with the most votes will be announced live on-air March 19.

The contest begins Feb. 5, and the deadline for entry is March 2. Qualified applicants should have some prior college experience with a minimum grade point average of 2.2-2.75 on a 4.0 scale (refer to the contest rules for details). Applicants will be asked to provide related documentation, including transcripts for previous coursework.
