King University Invites Community to Join in a Christmas Tree Lighting and Candlelight Caroling Event Nov. 30

BRISTOL, Tenn., November 20, 2017 – The King University Music Department is hosting a Christmas tree lighting and candlelight caroling event on Thursday, Nov. 30 at 6:00 p.m. The event will take place on the Oval located on the main campus in Bristol, Tennessee. Students, faculty, staff, and alumni along with the local community are encouraged to participate.

“We are excited to begin the celebration of the Christmas season with the tree lighting on the Oval,” said Dr. Rob Littleton, vice president for Student Affairs. “This is sure to be a festive time and a moment to gather as a community. Last year, we began the season with candlelight caroling on the Oval, a magical and memorable event. This year, we are continuing this tradition with the addition of lighting the campus Christmas tree.”

Everyone in attendance will be giving lyric sheets and candles before the ceremony begins. The Christmas tree lighting will take place at 6:00 p.m. with the heart of King University, Ms. Jewel Bell, lighting the tree; Ms. Bell just celebrated her 65th year as an employee of King. Carolers will then begin singing beloved Christmas songs. The evening will culminate as carolers circle the Oval while singing to candlelight. Light refreshments will follow.

“We are delighted once again to host this Christmas caroling event,” says Dr. W. Patrick Flannagan, professor of Music and director of choral activities at King University. “Please join us to make this a truly regional event, celebrating the advent season by singing carols together by candlelight and helping King University to celebrate the birth of our Savior.”
