King University Athletics Contribute to a Successful Coats for Kids Event

Tornado Athletics Coats for Kids DonationsBRISTOL, Tenn., October 24, 2016 – In celebration of King University 150th anniversary, Tornado Athletics were recently challenged to raise $150 for the University’s 17th annual Coats for Kids event which took place on Saturday, Oct. 22 in Kline Gym on the main campus in Bristol, Tenn.

“The King University Athletics Department was able to raise over $250 for Coats for Kids,” said Dawn Regan, Administrative Support Coordinator for Athletics & Compliance. “Our goal was $150.00 in honor of the 150th Anniversary, but, with no hesitation, the Athletic Department went above and beyond to raise more.

Tornado Athletics bought 15 new coats and collected 15 gently used coats for the event.

“This is such a special fundraiser wherein no child should be cold,” adds Regan. “I love how our coaches, staff, and student-athletes came together to make a difference in these children’s lives.”

“Saturday was a great day,” says Julie McReynolds, assistant dean for student engagement at King. “The event was definitely a success. For many, having a coat is not of any particular significance, but for the children in our region who go without one throughout the winter months, a coat is a true blessing. We are looking forward to another great event next year.”
