King University News :: Twenty-second King Scholar Summer Academy Set for June

King College will host its annual King Scholar Summer Academy (KSSA) June 18 – 22.  This marks the 22nd year for the popular week-long summer camp, which offers areas of study in science, math, creative writing, theatre, and more.

“The King Scholar Summer Academy is a program designed to bring students to their highest level of achievement in science, languages, and the arts in a fun learning environment,” stated Dr. Sandra Sanders, KSSA program director.  “The curriculum, taught by King College education graduates and area educators, creatively develops each student’s sense of scholarly inquiry and independent thinking.  Every student receives individual attention while studying history, art, science, languages, and more.”

The program is offered for students of high interest and ability who have completed grades three through six.  Students will meet from 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, June 18 through Friday, June 22 on the King College campus.  The cost for the week-long program is $200, which includes lunch in the Dining Hall, daily snacks, a summer academy t-shirt, a group picture, and use of the recreation facilities. 

A non-refundable deposit of $50 is required at the time of registration, with the balance due by Friday, June 15.  There is a $10 late fee for registrations received after June 8. 

Interested families should print out the brochure, which is available at http://kingscholar.king.edu, and return the completed form plus deposit to the Office of the President at King College by Friday, June 8.  Space is limited, so register early.

Checks may be made to the King Scholar Summer Academy and mailed to King College, c/o the Office of the President, 1350 King College Road, Bristol, Tenn. 37620.  Registration forms and payments may also be delivered to the President’s Office, located in the King Building on campus.
