King University News :: Plan Now for LAUNCH 2014 Aug. 23-25

BRISTOL, Tenn. June 13, 2014 – With graduation past and summer break in full swing, students planning to attend King University this fall will want to take a little time to plan for move-in weekend, otherwise known as LAUNCH. This year, LAUNCH will take place the same weekend as race weekend at the Bristol Motor Speedway – Aug. 23-25. The Appalachian Fair will also be in full swing Aug. 18-23.

“With both the August night race, one of the most popular races on the entire NASCAR circuit, and the Appalachian Fair taking place the same time as LAUNCH, students and their families will want to plan now for their trip to Bristol,” said Julie Roberson, assistant dean for Student Engagement for King. “Lodging accommodations tend to fill up quickly, so now is the time to make reservations for LAUNCH weekend. A list of local hotels can be found at The Bristol TN/VA Chamber of Commerce has also put together a website full of great information for your visit to Bristol at”

LAUNCH events will begin on Saturday, Aug. 23 with students moving into their residence halls beginning at 8 a.m. At 10 a.m., all new students will participate in the Oval Walk followed by a dedication service. Following, students and families will attend group meetings and orientation, find out about the LAUNCH Cup, participate in the Check-In Mall, in addition to many other fun-filled, adventurous activities.
