Students attending King College this summer may be eligible to receive additional
financial assistance through the Federal Pell Grant program.
The Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA) has authorized schools to award two Federal
Pell Grants in an award year for an eligible student. Students who previously received
a Pell Grant for fall and spring semesters may also be eligible for Pell money for
the summer session. The objective of two Pell Grants in an award year is to help
eligible students accelerate their academic progress.
According to King's director of financial aid, Nancy Beverly, students who did not
use all of their Pell disbursement during fall or spring may also have the opportunity
to apply these funds toward summer classes.
This is a great opportunity for students interested in continuing their education
through summer term, said Beverly. Additional Pell Grant funding will facilitate
affordability of these classes.
Interested students must have completed the 2009/10 Free Application for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA) form and also be enrolled at least half-time status.
