King University News :: McGovern Appointed Dean of King’s Business School

Dr. Lorrie A. McGovern, associate professor of business, has received the appointment of Dean of the King College School of Business and Economics. Prior to her new role, McGovern served as the director for the Bachelor of Business Administration program. She has been with the College since 2002.

“Dr. McGovern’s leadership is a big part of the success of our Graduate and Professional Studies program,” said Dr. Paul Percy, King College’s vice president for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College. “She is an outstanding educator who is genuinely loved by students and well respected in our community.”

After receiving her associate degree in business administration/computer studies from Camden County Community College, McGovern continued her studies in business in the field of organizational management, receiving her bachelor’s degree from Virginia Intermont College and her Master of Arts from Tusculum College. She then focused her studies on marketing at Argosy University, where she received her Doctor of Business Administration.

McGovern was previously a small business entrepreneur. She was the owner and affiliate broker for RE/MAX Central Realty. She also spent several years at the Bristol Chamber of Commerce as the director of community development. Her honors include Skelton Fellow of Rotary International District 7570 and Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.
