King University News :: Knoxville’s WIVK 107.7 & King University Kickoff Fifth Annual Scholarship Contest

BRISTOL, Tenn., Sept. 23, 2014 – One of WIVK FM 107.7’s listeners will be the lucky winner of a full scholarship to King University.  WIVK and King University are sponsoring their fifth annual scholarship contest.  The promotion will begin on Monday, Sept. 29 and will run through Sunday, Oct. 26.  All applications must be submitted before midnight on Oct. 26, at which time five finalists will be chosen from the pool of qualified applicants.  The finalists will be invited to attend the open house/live remote on Thursday, Nov. 6 at 4 p.m. at King’s Knoxville campus at The Village at Hardin Valley where the winner will be announced.

Last year’s winner was Jessica Lynn Bolin of Crossville, Tenn., a stay-at-home mom and mother of three children. I am still honored and humbled to have won the Degree of Success scholarship in 2013. This scholarship has allowed me to focus on my classes and future, while opening doors I could have never imagined,” says Jessica Bolin, when asked how the contest impacted her life. “I will be graduating in May 2015 with my Psychology degree and I am currently applying to graduate schools for the following fall. I am beyond blessed for everything King has helped me achieve. I have made friends with peers and connections with staff that will forever shape my life. This scholarship has changed the course of my life in ways I can never explain. Thank you King and all its sponsors.

The Degree of Success Scholarship promotion is geared toward adults who would like to realize their dream of obtaining an undergraduate degree at no cost through King’s Graduate Professional Studies and Online Programs (GPS).  The winner of the scholarship contest will be able to choose a convenient King location to begin their degree program including Hardin Valley, Harriman, Morristown, Sevierville, or Strawberry Plains.

The winner will receive a full-tuition scholarship, including laptop, books, to one of King’s GPS degree programs including business administration, communication, criminal justice, healthcare administration, or psychology.

“Often we have prospective students ask us about the availability of scholarships for adults.  Adult-learners may not have the financial support in place they need to pursue an undergraduate degree and this all-tuition paid scholarship will remove the financial barriers for one lucky listener,” says Kristi Reynolds, assistant vice president of GPS Enrollment Management for Knoxville at King University. “King is excited to offer this opportunity to the greater-Knoxville region and encourages the community to consider returning to school to complete your education goal.”

The public is invited to come join in the celebration when the winner is announced during an open house and live radio remote, as well as tour King’s Hardin Valley campus on Friday, Nov. 6 from 4-7 p.m.  Those attending will have the opportunity to meet with faculty, staff, admissions, and financial aid representatives, and learn about available GPS programs where students can earn their degree in as little as 16 months, one night a week.
