King University News :: King's Music Department to Host Choral Arts Camp

The King College music department will host the 2010 Choral Arts Camp on July 26 - 30.  The camp is open to any rising 4th - 12th grade boys and girls.

The one-week summer day camp will offer students the opportunity to improve their vocal skills, work with other student singers, and experience an afternoon concert series.  Students will also attend musicianship, percussion ensemble, and games/folk dancing classes.

Directors for the Choral Arts Camp will be Shea Clay, assistant professor of music for King College; Jane DeLoach Morison, artistic director of the Mountain Empire Children's Choral Academy; and Valerie Pickard, elementary music teacher for the Bristol Tennessee School System.

Camp will begin at 9 a.m. and lasts through 4 p.m. each day.  A mid-morning snack will be provided; however, students will need to bring a packed lunch.  Cost of the week-long camp is $100.

Students will perform an evening concert on the final day of camp, Friday, July 30, at First Presbyterian Church on the west end of the King College campus.

Interested students must return their completed registration forms with payment by June 1, 2010 to:
