King University News :: King's Music Department to Host 2011 Summer Choral Arts Camp

The Music Department at King College is pleased to announce the 2011 Summer Choral Arts Camp for rising students grade four through twelve. The weeklong camp will take place in King's Memorial Chapel from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., June 27 through July 1. The campers will participate in activities to enhance choral, musicianship, movement, and beginning instrumental skills.

The camp will conclude with a pizza party for campers and a concert at 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 701 Florida Ave., Bristol, TN. The free concert will highlight the skills campers learned throughout the week.

Instilling the love of music into children's hearts and minds is the passion of directors Shea Clay, Valerie Pickard, and Jane Morison. Students from King College Music Department will assist the directors during the camp. The cost for each camper will be $135, which includes a free t-shirt, music packet, dulcimer kit for students to take home, a daily snack, a pizza party, and memories and experiences that will last a lifetime

The theme for the camp is American Folk Music. The camp will offer students the opportunity to improve their vocal skills, work with other student singers, and experience a daily afternoon concert series by local talent.
