King University News :: King University Partners with Roane State to Offer Bachelor Degrees in Harriman

Students at Roane State Community College’s Harriman location now have the opportunity to transfer into King University’s Graduate and Professional Studies Online Programs (GPS) and complete their bachelor’s degree.

Thanks to an articulation agreement established between the two schools, Roane State students, upon completion of their associate’s degree, may enter directly into the GPS program with priority consideration for admission.  King’s GPS program provides adult-oriented degree programs designed to reduce the challenges adult learners face.

“This collaboration creates not only opportunities for Roane State students to earn four-year degrees without having to leave the community but also prepares them for employment in careers that are in-demand in the college’s service area,” said Micah Crews, associate vice president for Enrollment Management GPS and Online Studies at King.

Roane State students in Harriman can enter the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree program beginning this summer - May 2013.  The Bachelor of Science for Registered Nurses (RN-BSN) program will be added to the Roane State GPS degree offerings in the fall – Aug. 2013.

“The convenient location is ideal for Roane State students because they are already acclimated to the campus,” said Mona Salyer, Director of Recruitment for GPS at King.  “Students will be able to complete the bachelor’s degree program in as little as 16 months.”

“Extending one’s education to include a bachelor’s degree provides increased career opportunities, whether a student is seeking to advance their career or they are transitioning from their current area of expertise into a new one,” said Crews.
