KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Oct. 24, 2014 – King University will host an open house/live remote
on Thursday, Nov. 6 from 4-7 p.m. at the University’s Knoxville campus located at
The Village at Hardin Valley at 10950 Spring Bluff Way, Knoxville, Tenn. During the
event, King, along with WIVK 107.7, will announce the lucky winner of a full scholarship
to King University.
WIVK and King University are sponsoring the fifth annual scholarship contest for the
greater Knoxville area. Applications for the contest were accepted between Sept. 29
and Oct. 26, at which time five finalists were chosen from the pool of qualified applicants.
The finalists have been invited to attend the open house/live remote on Nov. 6 at
King’s Knoxville campus where the winner will be announced.
The Degree of Success Scholarship promotion is geared toward adults who would like
to realize their dream of obtaining an undergraduate degree at no cost through King’s
Graduate Professional Studies and Online Programs (GPS).
The winner will receive a full-tuition scholarship, including laptop, books, to one
of King’s GPS degree programs including business administration, communication, criminal
justice, healthcare administration, or psychology. They will be able to choose a convenient
King location to begin their degree program including Hardin Valley, Harriman, Morristown,
Sevierville, or Strawberry Plains.
“Our GPS programs are tailored to reduce the challenges facing the adult learner,”
said Micah Crews, associate vice president of Enrollment Management for Operations
and Analytics at King University. “Time and access are often a barrier for students
to finish their degrees. By offering classes in convenient locations, one night per
week, the working adult may obtain their degree in as little as 16 months and open
the door for professional advancement.”
In addition to the announcement of the contest winner, this open house will provide
the opportunity to meet one-on-one with faculty, financial aid counselors, enrollment
counselors, career center counselors, and tour King’s Knoxville campus.
“King’s Knoxville campus provides increased educational opportunities for residents
in the Knoxville region, giving them another choice when seeking a quality, accredited
program for their return to school,” said Kristi Reynolds, assistant vice president
of GPS Enrollment Management for Knoxville at King University. “Whether it is a personal
goal or a step toward furthering their career, King is making it easier for working
adults throughout the region in their quest to obtain their degree.”
The public is invited to join the celebration, when the winner is announced during
an open house/live remote event hosted by WIVK 107.7, and tour King’s Knoxville campus
on Friday, Nov. 6 from 4-7 p.m.
