King University News :: King College & Knoxville’s WIVK 107.7 to Announce College Scholarship Winner During Knoxville Open House

King College will host an Open House on Thursday, Nov. 1 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the College’s Hardin Valley location at 10950 Spring Bluff Way, Knoxville, Tenn. 

This Open House will provide the opportunity to meet one-on-one with faculty, financial aid counselors, admissions representatives, career center counselors, and tour King’s newest location. 

King offers programs specifically designed with the adult learner in mind through the College’s Graduate and Professional Studies (GPS) program, as well as numerous courses for students who wish to transition from an associate degree to a bachelor’s degree.

Our GPS program is tailored to reduce the challenges facing the adult learner,” stated Micah Crews, associate vice president of enrollment management.  “Time and access is often a barrier for students to finish their degrees.  By offering classes in convenient locations, one night per week, the working adult may obtain their degree in as little as 16 months and open the door for professional advancement.” 

GPS degree offerings for King’s Hardin Valley location include bachelor’s degrees in communication, criminal justice, psychology, business, information technology, allied health, and nursing, as well as master’s degrees in business and nursing. 

In addition to the open house, King and Knoxville’s WIVK FM 107.7 sponsoring a scholarship contest for WIVK listeners, throughout the month of October, with one lucky winner to receive a full scholarship to King College.  The promotion began Monday, Oct. 1 and ran through Friday, Oct. 26.  The finalists, along with the public, have been invited to attend King’s open house/live remote on Nov. 1 at King’s Knoxville location at The Village at Hardin Valley where the winner will be announced.  WIVK’s live remote begins at 4 p.m. and the open house will begin at 5:30 p.m. 

The Degree of Success Scholarship promotion is geared toward adults who would like to realize their dream of obtaining an undergraduate degree at no cost through King’s Graduate and Professional Studies (GPS) programs in Knoxville, Sevierville, Morristown, or the College’s newest location at Strawberry Plains. 

The winner will receive a full-tuition scholarship, including books, to King College’s GPS program.  They will be able to choose from the following programs and locations: 

  • Bachelor of Science in Communication (COMM) - Knoxville
  • Bachelor of Science in Psychology (PSYCH) - Knoxville
  • Bachelor of Science in Allied Health (BSAH) - Knoxville
  • Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice (BSCJ) - Knoxville
  • Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) - Knoxville
  • Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) - Morristown
  • Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) - Sevierville
  • Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) - Strawberry Plains
  • Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) - Harriman 

The public is invited to come join in the festivities during the open house/live remote and tour King’s Hardin Valley location on Nov. 1 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  Those in attendance will have the opportunity to meet with faculty and staff, admissions, and financial aid representatives, and learn about available GPS programs where students can earn their degree in as little as 16 months, one night a week.
