King University News :: King College Jazz Band Provides Music as Bristol Sign Goes Pink

The century old Welcome to Bristol sign will undergo a transformation, and King College is lending a musical hand. The sign will adorn more than one thousand pink bulbs beginning Oct. 1 in an effort to raise awareness and funding for breast cancer awareness.

The sign will be turned pink during a lighting ceremony at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 1 at the Bristol Train Station. The inaugural King College Jazz Band will be providing music during the event.  Band director Lonny Finley says while they’re happy to play for the event, it’s about bringing the community together.

“We are delighted at being asked to play for this Breast Cancer Awareness event. The jazz band is a brand new group and even though we have only had a handful of rehearsals, this is exactly the type of event we hope will allow us to connect with the community, Finley said.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the Bristol Chamber of Commerce at 423.989.4850 or visit http://realwomenpickpink.com
