King University News :: Christian Universities Online Ranks King University Among Top 50 Best Value Christian Schools in the Nation

BRISTOL, Tenn., January 21, 2015 – Christian Universities Online (CUO), an independent online resource for prospective students and their families researching Christian higher education, has ranked King University among the top 50 “Best Value Christian Colleges and Universities” in the United States. CUO also recently ranked King as one of the top 50 Christian colleges with the lowest debt burden, as well as one of the 50 most affordable Christian colleges in the U.S.

“We are honored to be counted among the top-ranked Christian schools in the nation for best value, lowest debt burden, and most affordable,” states Dr. Matt Roberts, vice president for Academic Affairs at King University. “These ranking serve as a reaffirmation of King’s commitment to academic excellence and the Universities mission to build meaningful lives of achievement and cultural transformation in Christ. Our historic motto, Ecclesiae et Litteris, for the Church and for learning, indisputably describes the core ideals for which King was founded. These same ideals continue to be fostered today.”

The founders of King University envisioned a School that would not only fully develop the student’s intellect but core values as well. The integration of King’s Christian heritage is apparent in each course and degree program available at four campus locations, 10 additional instructional sites located throughout Southwest Virginia and Tennessee, and online.

Christian Universities Online goal in ranking of Christian colleges with the lowest debt burden is to highlight schools that are excelling in keeping the debt burden of their graduates as low as possible. CUO understands the long-term impact that excessive student loan debt has on today’s graduate. Each year, 98 percent of King University students receive assistance, with more than $35 million awarded annually in scholarships, grants, loans and work-study.

“King’s is committed to excellent academics that are affordable. Our enrollment counselors work diligently with King financial aid representatives to ensure what debt students do incur is markedly less than they might acquire at other institution,” says Roberts. “Regardless of price tag, the overall goal is helping ensure students can afford to come to King.”

Other recent accolades include King’s recognition for the past 25 years as a “Best Regional University” by U.S. News World Report, 11 years as a “Best College in the Southeast” by the Princeton Review, and as a “Military Friendly School” for the fifth year by G.I. Jobs.  Additionally, King was named to the 2013 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll.  This designation, announced by the Corporation for National and Community Service, is the highest honor a college or university can receive for its commitment to volunteering, service-learning and civic engagement.
