King University News :: 5th Annual College Dream Contest; Winner Receives Full-Tuition Scholarship

King College, WCQR 88.3 FM, and sponsoring partners Eastman Credit Union and eCampus Virtual Bookstore, are going to make someone's college dream come true with a full-tuition scholarship to King College.

Over the past four years, King College and WCQR have helped four individuals realize their dreams of obtaining an undergraduate degree at no cost through King's Graduate and Professional Studies (GPS) programs, featuring class schedules and learning environments designed for working adults.  While the first three years of the contest focused on a College Mom, a College Dad, and a College Hero, like last year, King College and WCQR are opening up the contest to anyone who has always dreamed of completing their education.

We are honored to offer this opportunity to make a remarkable difference in someone's life, stated Mona Salyer, director of recruitment for graduate professional studies at King College.  Through King's GPS program, the winner will be able to complete his or her college education in a workable and convenient environment in as little as 16 months, one night a week.  Whether you are searching to make yourself more marketable, further a career change, or serve as an inspiration to your family, it is never too late to pursue the dream of a college education.

The King College / WCQR College Dream promotion offers the opportunity for one deserving entrant to obtain a degree through King's Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) or Bachelor of Information Technology (BTech) program at no cost.  In addition, the winner will also receive a new laptop computer courtesy of Eastman Credit Union, textbooks courtesy of eCampus Virtual Bookstore, and a $50 gift certificate from the King College Tornado Alley Shoppe.

From the pool of qualified applicants, King College and WCQR will choose five finalists to go on air and tell their story the week of May 17.  WCQR listeners will then have the opportunity to vote for their favorite finalist the week of May 24.  The candidate with the most votes will be announced June 1, 2010.

The contest begins April 12 and the deadline for entry is May 7.  Qualified applicants should have some prior college experience with a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.  Applicants will be asked to provide related documentation, including transcripts for previous coursework.  Interested applicants can apply at collegedream.king.edu or check out the College Dream link on www.wcqr.org.  For additional information regarding the College Dream promotion, contact Mona Salyer at King College at 423.652.4861 or toll free at 800.362.0014.
