King University News :: 10th Annual College Dream Scholarship Contest Kicks Off

BRISTOL, Tenn., January 22, 2015 – King University, WCQR 88.3 FM, and sponsoring partner Eastman Credit Union are celebrating the kickoff of the 10th annual College Dream Scholarship Contest. Together, they are going to make someone’s college dream come true with a full-tuition scholarship to King University.

Over the past nine years, King University and WCQR have helped nine individuals realize their dream of obtaining an undergraduate degree at no cost through King’s Graduate and Professional Studies Online Programs (GPS), featuring class schedules and learning environments designed for working adults. The scholarship contest is open to anyone who has always dreamed of completing their education.

“We are thrilled to have hosted the College Dream Scholarship Contest for the 10th year. We are pleased to offer this opportunity to make a remarkable difference in someone's life,” stated John King, vice president of Development and Enrollment Management for King University.

The King University / WCQR College Dream promotion offers the opportunity for one deserving entrant to obtain a degree through King’s GPS program. The winner will choose their degree path from among six bachelor’s degree options including Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Healthcare Administration, Information Technology, Psychology, or RN-BSN for fall 2015 at King’s Tri-Cities locations.

In addition, the winner will also receive a new laptop computer courtesy of Eastman Credit Union, textbooks, and a $50 gift certificate from the King University Tornado Alley Shoppe.

“Through King’s GPS program, the winner will be able to complete his or her college education in a workable and convenient environment in as little as 16 months, one night a week. Whether you are searching to make yourself more marketable, further a career change, or serve as an inspiration to your family, it is never too late to pursue the dream of a college education,” King said.

From the pool of qualified applicants, King University and WCQR will choose five finalists to go on air and tell their story March 2nd and 3rd.  WCQR listeners will then have the opportunity to vote for their favorite finalist from March 4-8. The candidate with the most votes will be announced March 9, 2013.

The contest begins Jan. 26, and the deadline for entry is Feb. 20.  Qualified applicants should have some prior college experience with a minimum grade point average of 2.2 on a 4.0 scale. Applicants will be asked to provide related documentation, including transcripts for previous coursework. Interested applicants can apply at http://collegedream.king.edu or check out the College Dream link on www.wcqr.org.
