King University News :: 103.3 WKDF & King University Launch Scholarship Contest in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – One of 103.3 WKDF’s listeners will be the lucky winner of a full scholarship to King University.  WKDF and King University are sponsoring their first scholarship contest for the Nashville region.  The promotion will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 1 and will run through Sunday, Oct. 27.  All applications must be submitted before 5 p.m. on Oct. 27, at which time five finalists will be chosen from the pool of qualified applicants.  The finalists will be invited to attend the open house/live remote on Friday, Nov. 8 at 4 p.m. at King’s Nashville campus located at 113 Seaboard Lane, Suite B-100, in Franklin, Tenn., where the winner will be announced.

“We are excited to announce the inaugural Degree of Success Scholarship contest in Nashville,” says Matt Roberts, chief academic officer and dean of Academic Affairs.  “The Scholarship recipient will have the opportunity to receive a quality education and complete their bachelor’s degree at no cost.”

Last year’s winner of the King’s Degree of Success Scholarship contest in Knoxville was Jennifer Estes of Loudon, Tenn., a paramedic who has worked for the 911 Center for more than 16 years. On her experience with the scholarship contest, she says, “I was blessed to be selected as the winner of the Degree of Success Scholarship contest in [Knoxville] in 2012. It is amazing how being in the King University family has changed my life so far. The information and skills taught to me have already enhanced my job performance and has opened many doors to new paths of critical thinking in my daily life. I am set to graduate in May 2014. I cannot wait to see what the future holds with my Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration. I look forward to paying it forward and giving back to others to show my appreciation for this once in a lifetime opportunity that King allowed me to have!”

The Degree of Success Scholarship promotion is geared toward adults who would like to realize their dream of obtaining an undergraduate degree at no cost through King’s Graduate Professional Studies and Online Programs (GPS).

The winner will receive a full-tuition scholarship, including books, to one of King’s GPS degree programs including business administration, nursing, or health informatics.

“Providing a full tuition scholarship is an amazing way to transform somebody's life, and I am so proud to work for an institution that is willing to provide that opportunity through the Degree of Success contest,” says Josie Russell, regional director of recruitment for the Nashville market.  “I can't wait to meet our winner here in Nashville!”

The public is invited to join the celebration when the winner is announced during an open house/live remote hosted by 103.3 WKDF, and tour King’s newest campus on Friday, Nov. 8 from 4-6 p.m.  Those attending will have the opportunity to meet with faculty, staff, admissions, and financial aid representatives, and learn about available GPS programs where students can earn their degree in as little as 16 months, one night a week.
