King University Alumni Hiking Event set for Roan Mountain, TN June 13-14

Alumni HikeBRISTOL, Tenn., May 20, 2015 – King University alumni will continue hiking the Appalachian Trail on the fourth alumni hike of 2015. On June 13-14, alumni are invited to enjoy a two-day, 13.5-mile hike from Carvers Gap to Hwy 19-E, in Roan Mountain, Tenn. Overnight camping and transportation from King will be provided.

Throughout 2015, King University’s Office of Alumni Relations has hosted Appalachian Trail hiking opportunities in locations such as House Mountain State Natural Area in Knoxville, Tenn., the Iron Mountain Trail in Damascus, Va., and trails in Shady Valley. “The hiking events are excellent opportunities for alumni to connect with old friends and create memories in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains,” said Michael Webb, director of Alumni Relations at King University

“Carvers Gap to Hwy 19-E on the Appalachian Trail offers some of the best views in the area,” added Webb. “The Alumni Office is excited to lead this trip. It will be a little different than our previous hikes, in that it will be an overnight camping trip. We will be camping near Overmountain Shelter on the AT. So bring your sleeping bag and tent!”

Cost for the event is free for all involved. Alumni will gather at by 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 13. Transportation will be provided to and from Roan Mountain.
