King University Ranked Best Value for Online Bachelor’s in English

BRISTOL, Tenn., Jan. 11, 2017 – AffordableColleges.com, a free resource designed to help people address education costs, has ranked King University’s online Bachelor of Arts in English as a best value program.

“King University’s English program challenges students to read broadly, to think deeply and critically about the intersections of literature, culture, and character, and to communicate effectively,” said Karen Shaw, Ph.D., professor of English at King. “We are pleased to have our online degree recognized as a best value program.”

According to AffordableColleges.com’s website, the “value score methodology weighs criteria, such as loan default rates, graduation rates, and financial aid data, to draw a distinction between the programs that appear cheap up-front and those that will pay off in the long run. When calculating the rankings, AC uses the most recent data available from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS). Run by the US Department of Education, IPEDS offers reliable and accurate insight into affordability, academic pedigree, and online/distance learning programs.”

The Bachelor of Arts in English online degree program consists of four semesters of online classes. Students gain knowledge of several literary traditions and eras and considerable experience in writing, thinking critically, analyzing texts, and conducting research. These are skills needed in almost any profession: advertising, business, government service, journalism, law, library science, ministry, publishing, and teaching. Beyond this, however, students will be challenged to consider issues of character and faith through the questions raised in their study.

In addition to English, King University also offers online undergraduate and graduate degree programs including an Associate of Arts and bachelor’s degree programs in English, Business Administration, Communication, Criminal Justice, Health Informatics, Healthcare Administration, History, Information Technology, Nursing, Psychology, and Religious Studies. Master’s degree programs are also available fully online in Business Administration and Nursing with program concentrations in Nursing Administration and Nurse Educator.

“The King University educational experience, whether on-ground or online, is uniquely designed to help prepare students to make meaningful and significant contributions to their communities through their chosen vocation,” said Jon Harr, Ed.D., interim vice president for Enrollment Management at King. “King’s distance learners are studying online for their degree across the U.S. as well as in several other countries around the globe.”

King University is recognized as a “Best Regional Universities” in the South by U.S. News and World Report; this year’s ranking is King’s 28th consecutive appearance in the annual publication and recognition for the past 14 years as a “Best College in the Southeast” by the Princeton Review.
