Security

Campus security is a top priority at King College. You’ll feel safe in the King College community, but you won’t be isolated from the opportunities the larger Tri-Cities community has to offer. We have a very low crime rate, thanks to the proactive steps we’ve taken to prevent crime.

Some of our precautions include:

  • A full-time Director of the Safe Campus Project. With more than ten years of law-enforcement experience, the director oversees all aspects of campus security.
  • A security office serving as a “home-base” for security personnel.
  • Round the clock coverage of security phone lines.
  • Two emergency call boxes that connect to the security line.
  • Security officers who patrol campus throughout the evenings and at night.
  • Security officers enforce and report all violations of campus policies, regulations, and the campus Honor Code.
  • Security officers provide an safety escort service to any student during the evening or night.

King College has recently received a $200,000 federal grant from the Department of Justice to take additional steps to prevent campus crime. We anticipate the following security measures will be added in time for the 2004-2005 school year:

  • Establishing an improved prevention and education program.
  • Increased campus lighting.
  • Keyless entry system to dorms that is customized specifically for each student.
  • Additional emergency call boxes connecting to the security line.
  • Adding security gates to entrances onto campus.
