Career Counseling
Your secret to success will be the Career Development staff at King. This is the place to go for everything related to your life after college. You’ll become friendly with the Career Development staff long before graduation.
In fact, as early as your first semester, you'll begin to explore majors, careers, internships, graduate and professional schools, and more. Along the way, we’ll help you prepare your
résumé, show you how to write an effective cover letter, and help you with interview techniques, credential files, job searches, graduate school admissions process, and the like.
Our Career Development staff goes to greater lengths than most career staffs. They’re relentless in ensuring that you arrive at your destination, whatever that may be. They’ll help you plan for the future by working with you to identify your strengths, interests, and potential career paths.
It is never too early to start thinking of how your major will prepare you for your career. The Career Development Office will help you in all phases of the career planning process.
Some of the Career Development Services include:
- Self-Assessment: Understanding your academic strengths and weaknesses is one of the first steps in determining your academic major. The Career Development Center will help you determine which majors and career fields match best with your strengths.
-
- Résumé preparation: Get help customizing your résumé to
reflect your experiences.
-
- Mock Interviews: Practice answers to some of the most challenging
questions employers ask when interviewing. You’ll receive valuable feedback so
you’ll feel prepared when you interview.
-
- Credentials Service: A common site where students and alumni may keep confidential credentials that are available to potential employers and graduate schools.
-
- Career Development Library: Choose from hundreds of books to help you determine your strengths, understand fields or majors that interests you and other job related topics.
-
- Career Fairs: Connect with local and regional employers
looking for bright talent.
-
- Job Opportunity Board: Browse through job openings from all over the
area and the United States.
-
- Internship Placement: Internships play a very important role in developing the skills you learn in the classroom and preparing you for your career. The King College Internship Program offers you the chance to integrate theory learned in the classroom with practical applications.
Internships offer a hands-on learning experience in an off-campus environment
that helps you develop on-the-job skills. You'll develop your professional
skills and start networking and making contact with potential employers.
If your chosen major doesn’t seem to be “fitting” you, our staff is there to re-evaluate your strengths and weaknesses to
help you find the right major.
