Ministry and Service
Participating in a ministry or community service allows you to enhance your learning by helping to meet a community need.
Our commitment to community involvement has been recognized nationally through our designation as a “College of Promise,” which is part of the “America’s Promise.” Established under the leadership of General Colin Powell, the program consists of initiatives to mobilize resources for all youth to become successful adults. Currently, we are one of only three colleges and universities in Tennessee receiving this honor.
You’ll have numerous opportunities to participate in service and ministry activities. Here is a sampling the programs and volunteer opportunities:

Coats for Kids "Make a Difference" Day
King College celebrates the national "Make a Difference Day" by hosting “Coats for Kids.” Coats are collected throughout the year and distributed at this annual event. Last year, King College students collected and distributed more than more than 300 winter coats for children in need. Student organizations sponsor breakfast and carnival games for the children. Area organizations and businesses have supported this event by donating coats, hats, scarves, gloves and cleaning and storage services.

Our students have provided more than 500 hours of tutoring at a local elementary school, administering a summer computer program and providing student “peer educators” for Substance Abuse Prevention.
