For complete guidelines, visit Dual Enrollment Grant Guidelines.

  • Must be a Tennessee resident for one year as of September 15 of the academic year of enrollment.
  • Completed grant application must be received prior the first day of class.
  • Meet admissions criteria for dual enrollment.
  • Student must maintain a cumulative 2.75 GPA on all post-secondary courses taken at any institution to maintain eligibility.  If the student has taken duall enrollment courses at another institution besides King, it is helpful to provide a transcript of those courses to verify grant eligibility.

To take additional courses:

  • A student, who meets the HOPE eligibility requirements (GPA of at least 3.0 or ACT score of at least 21), is eligible to take two (2) classes per semester.  The student must continue to meet the continuation requirements to retain the DEG.
  • Students who receive the Dual Enrollment Grant amount for more than four (4) dual enrollment courses over the junior and senior years will have the amount reduced from their HOPE Scholarship on a dollar for dollar basis until funds are repaid.
  • The Dual Enrollment Grant shall be used for lower division (courses numbered 1000-2000) postsecondary degree-seeking courses.
  • HOPE eligibility requirements vary based on the high school the student is attending.  If a student is attending a Tennessee public high school, or category 1, 2 or 3 private school, the student can be eligible for HOPE based on scoring at least a 21 ACT/980 SAT on any single test taken on a national test date or at least a 3.0 cumulative weighted high school GPA. If the student is attending a category 4 private school or Tennessee-based home school program, the student can qualify for HOPE based on the ACT/SAT composite score on any single test taken on a national or state test date only.
