Individual counseling is by far the most common service requested at the King University Counseling Center, which is set up more as a private practice than a college counseling center. A short-termed method of counseling, entitled "Presence and Truth," is the primary method for treatment and is based upon the Epistle of James. This method of treatment was developed by Chuck Thompson, the Director of Counseling, and it emphasizes the responsibility of each individual for their own decisions while respectfully allowing each client to set the goals and pace for their own counseling. Counseling services are available for a wide variety of issues ranging from personal growth and relational difficulties to more severe struggles ie.; depression, bi-polar disorder, post traumatic stress, anxiety disorders, and struggles with addiction, eating, and anger.
