From May 6-30, 2008, a community of students, faculty, and guests from around the nation will gather in one of the country’s most beautiful ecosystems, on the tail waters of the Holston River. This month-long immersion in the mountains will center on what author Loyal Jones has called “Appalachian values”—principles that stem from a connection to the land, a vibrant sense of community, and the fertile ground of faith.

Together, our community will explore the landscapes, cultures, and arts that combine to create Appalachia, and reflect on these experiences through times set aside for discussion, reading, and personal study.
