Sports Management
The Sport Management program at King College is an
interdisciplinary program combining economics, business administration, and
sport science which enables the student to gain a broad and systematic view of
the unique needs in the management, marketing, and financing of sports
enterprises, as well as an appreciation and understanding of the cultural
significance of sport.
The Sport Management program provides students with
opportunities to develop knowledge and skills relevant to the performance of
administrative and supervisory functions required in the operation of sport and
sport-related organizations/institutions. Course offerings will help students
develop skills to organize and administer sport and physical activity programs
at the corporate, agency, professional, and amateur levels. The program will
provide a combination of academic study and practical experiences that will
enable the student to work in a variety of settings such as: schools, sports
clubs, professional sports teams, community recreation departments, community
centers, sports marketing firms, sporting goods stores, and youth sports
organizations. Required in this major is an internship in an approved setting
supervised by a specialist in that field.
A degree in Sport Management will help prepare the student
for success in sport-related occupations such as: 1) Professional Sports; 2)
Marketing and Promotion; 3) Event and Facility Management; 4) Amateur Sports; 5)
Public Relations; 6) Manufacturing and Sales of Sporting Equipment; 7) Club
Management; 8) Athletic Representation; 9) Sports Media and Communication.
