Admissions Procedures
To apply for admission to the Master of Business Administration program,
individuals must take the following steps:
- Submit a completed application.
- Pay the application fee of $25.
- Send a transcript request form (included in the Admission packet) to each
college or university previously attended. Applicants should check with the
Registrar from each institution for the appropriate transcript fee.
- Obtain two letters of recommendation (preferably one from an employer and
one from a previous college professor).
- Write a three to four page narrative essay indicating your interest in the
program, your professional preparation, your academic experience and
job-related experience, and your career goals.
- Once a decision is made about a preferred starting date, pay the
enrollment deposit of $100 to reserve a space in that cohort group, providing
that one is available.
- Plan to attend Registration and Orientation.
Upon meeting all of the above criteria and in consultation with the Graduate
Admission Committee, the Center for Graduate & Professional Studies Program will
accept the admission application.
Conditional Acceptance
The Graduate Admission Committee will consider any exceptions to the above
criteria. (The Graduate Admission Committee is made up of the Director of the
MBA program and one other at-large member of the school of Business and
Economics.) Students who do not meet the minimum GPA requirements, but appear to
be capable of performing well in the program, at the discretion of the admission
committee may be accepted conditionally into the program. Conditional acceptance
will be lifted upon the student's successful completion of his or her first
semester with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Failure to achieve a grade
point average of 3.0 or higher will result in the student being academically
suspended.
Academic Policies
All Graduate Students are subject to the Academic Policies of the King
College Center for Graduate and Professional Studies.
In addition, the following
policies shall apply:
Transfer Credit
Up to six graduate credits of "B" work or above from regionally accredited
colleges or universities may be accepted in transfer toward meeting the elective
requirements of the program.
Graduate Student Academic Load
The Professional MBA Program is five 16-week semesters. Students will be
enrolled in at least six semester hours of courses each semester. The first
semester will start at various times during the year. The other semesters will
follow immediately-there is no summer vacation; however, there are short breaks
for major holidays.
Graduate students need to openly discuss this program and its demands with
both their families and their employers. This is an intensive 19-month program
with many demands and requirements. Periodic breaks are purposely built in to
allow time for reflection and rejuvenation; however, graduate students will need
the support and encouragement of family and employers.
Registration and Orientation
Registration and Orientation is normally held one week prior to the first
class. Curriculum materials for the first semester and assignments for the first
week are provided by the College at that time. All tuition and fees for the
first semester must be paid at registration unless other arrangements have been
made as detailed in the Financial Information section of this website.
