Accounting
The information explosion sweeping our society is
increasing the demand and scope for accountants. The accounting profession has
emerged as one of the leading growth professions throughout the world. A recent
survey by the Department of Labor projects Accounting as one of the majors with
the greatest market demand.
Accountants have a variety of career paths from which to
choose. Public accountants, or CPAs (Certified Public Accountants), provide a
variety of services to both individuals and businesses, including auditing, tax,
consulting, and personal financial planning. Law enforcement agencies such as
the FBI also hire many CPAs. Management accountants are employed in industry,
government, and non-profit organizations and are considered the information
analysts of the management team. Their professional designation is the CMA,
(Certified Management Accountant). Other career paths for accountants include
internal auditing and teaching. In addition, King College accounting graduates
are well prepared for graduate school in accounting, business administration,
and law.
