NSOC 2008 Schedule 
Saturday, August 16, 2008
8 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Welcome Table and Move-In
All new students should make the welcome table, located beside the Student Center Complex, the first stop. Pick up information about check-in and registration materials. Residential students, be here at 8 a.m. to get a jumpstart on moving into your residence hall. Commuters, arrive here at 9 a.m. to start your day’s activities.
9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Check-in-Mall – Student Center Complex
This convenient one-stop registration is designed to save you time. Pick up your laptop computer and ID card and have your ID card encoded. Complete any outstanding business including vaccination records, financial aid and your financial account. Also finalize your class schedule and register for the Experience D.C. 2008. Faculty and advisors will also be available to meet you and answer questions.
10:30 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.
Transfer Information Session – Memorial Chapel, Student Center Complex
Mandatory meeting for all transfers. Transfer students will be presented with several important procedures and policies such as the Honor Code, the Convocation Chapel and Service Policy and more. This meeting is also your chance for any unanswered questions specifically related to transfer students.
11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Lunch Buffet- Dining Hall
1 p.m. – 3 p.m.
New Student Free Time
Once you have completed everything you need to do at the Check-in-Mall, take this opportunity to make a last minute trip to Wal-Mart; finish moving into the residence hall; get more familiar with the campus; take care of those things that have yet to be done, etc.
3 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Opening Program for New Students – Memorial Chapel
The New Student Orientation Committee will present an introduction to NSOC 2007, “Life’s a Sport.”
3 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Parent Information Meeting – Dining Hall
Family members hear the perspectives of a variety of King College constituents and ask your remaining questions.
3:30 p.m.
Small Group Meetings for Students – Oval
Meet fellow students in your First Year Seminar Class and your NSOC small group leaders. Bring your FYEX points card with you so you can get it stamped for First Year Seminar Points! Your points card is in the student packet you received at the Welcome Table.
4:15 p.m. – 4:45 p.m.
Oval Walk and Dedication Service – Oval, new students meet in front of White Hall
Join our President, Dr. Greg Jordan, and other King College leaders as they welcome you and commemorate the occasion with a special dedication service for students, parents, and faculty.
4:45 p.m. – 5:45 p.m.
Reception with the President and Faculty – Library
Meet our President Dr. Greg Jordan and faculty after the Dedication Service.
5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.
Dinner – off campus or the Dining Hall
Feel free to enjoy dinner at one of the many local restaurants or chose to eat on campus in the King College Dining Hall.
7:30 p.m.
Family Dessert– Dining Hall
Enjoy dessert with your family with entertainment provided by NSOC. Bring your FYEX points card with you so you can get it stamped for First Year Seminar Points! Your points card is in the student packet you received at the Welcome Table.
8:00 p.m.
Small Group Meetings – Oval
Say goodnight to your families and get back together with your small group to prepare for the night’s activities.
8:30 p.m.
Saturday Night Main Event – Kline Gym
“The Amazing King College Race” will give your small group the chance to compete with other groups while exploring the campus! Bring your FYEX points card with you so you can get it stamped for First Year Seminar Points! Your points card is in the student packet you received at the Welcome Table.
11 p.m.
RA Meet and Greet – Your Residence Hall
Get to know your resident advisor and some of your hall mates or suitemates.

Continental Breakfast – Dining Hall
Enjoy a continental breakfast at the Dining Hall before the Worship Service (on campus).
9:45 a.m. – 10:45 a.m.
Worship Service – Memorial Chapel
Join us for a worship service led by NSOC students and our Chaplain. (Casual dress)
11 a.m. – Noon
Sunday School (see bulletin and posters in Dining Hall foyer for locations)
Choose from several Sunday School options. Additional information will be provided regarding class topics, teachers, and locations. Bring your FYEX points card with you so you can get it stamped for First Year Seminar Points! Your points card is in the student packet you received at the Welcome Table.
11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

The Student Government Association (SGA) and the Alumni Office will host as you enjoy dinner with your small group and faculty advisor. If you are in need of additional assistance with your laptop, the computer service staff is available to help.

First Year Students Seminar and Writing Sample – Your NSOC small group leader will provide the
location and look for signs in the Dining Hall lobby.You will get important information about First Year
Seminar Class and the Experience DC 2008 trip and complete a writing sample.
Noon – 1 p.m.

1 p.m. – 2 p.m.

Celebrate the conclusion of New Student Orientation with a movie at the historic Paramount Theater and a street dance on State Street in downtown Bristol. Meet in front of Kline Gym for a ride.
