Sound Recordings
CDs are shelved by Library of Congress call number. Library of Congress classification shelves items according to the type of music (i.e. sonata, symphony, opera, etc.) not alphabetically by composer or title.
Musical Scores
Musical scores are also shelved by Library of Congress call number. Scores are located in the library in the circulating collection and also in Oversize area on the 2nd floor of the library.
To locate sound recordings or musical scores start with the HAL catalog. You can search in the following ways:

Enter key terms, popular title, author
name.
Limit your search to find specifically what you need.

You can search for music by author or title also. Especially for title searching, it is important to know the exact title, not the popular title. For example, "Symphony No. 5" instead of "Fifth Symphony."
