Network Access
To configure TCP/IP for
your Windows 95/98 computer From the Windows 95/98 desktop, click on Start, Settings,
Control Panel. Next, choose the Network Icon. You should see a screen similar to
this:

Next, click on the Identification tab at the top of the Network Configuration
dialog box. For your Computer name, enter your KINGnet
userid. This is your first initial + second initial + first six letters of your
last name. Enter your dorm name in Workgroup.
You can leave Computer Description blank. After you have
finished entering your computer name, click on the Configuration tab.

Click on Add, then Protocol.

Next, choose Microsoft and TCP/IP and click ok. You may need to insert your
original Win95 CD. Due to licensing agreements, King College cannot provide this
disk if you do not have it. You must contact your original equipment
manufacturer.

After TCP/IP has been added, double click on TCP/IP

Choose the IP Address tab if it isn't already on your screen.

Click on the "Obtain an IP address automatically" then choose OK. You should be asked if you would like to restart your computer
after everything is installed. Please do so now.
That's it! You should now be able to start Netscape Navigator
or Microsoft Internet Explorer and start surfing the Internet! Be sure to
download the latest versions of Netscape or Internet Explorer.
How do I check my email and access network files from my room?
Load Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer and
access https://king4.king.edu/exchange
Don't forget
to add the "s" to http. The "s" indicates this is a secure
server. From your dorm room or anywhere in the world, you have secure access to
your email.
