Commencement Weekend Schedule for 2008
Tuesday, April 29
6 p.m. G&PS Graduation Rehearsal – Memorial Chapel
Friday, May 2
10:30 a.m. Graduation Rehearsal – Memorial Chapel
Dress rehearsal
11:45 a.m. Faculty/Graduate Luncheon – Maclellan Hall Dining Room
Free to Faculty and Graduates.
4 p.m. Nurses Pinning Ceremony – First Presbyterian Church
6 p.m. Line up – Fellowship Hall of First Presbyterian Church
6:30 p.m. Baccalaureate Service – First Presbyterian Church
8:15 p.m. King College Symphonic Choir Concert – King College Memorial Chapel
A reception will be held in the Maclellan Dining Hall following the concert.
Saturday, May 3
9:30 a.m. Graduates Line Up in front of White Hall for Graduation.
10 a.m. Graduation Service
A reception will be held on the Oval following Graduation.

Parking & Security Information
Parking
King College Campus Security Officers and Facilities Services Staff will be directing traffic, parking, and providing shuttle service for all Commencement activities. Due to the large number of guests expected, parking may be challenging, particularly for the Graduation Service. Please plan to arrive 30-45 minutes early to avoid frustration and wear comfortable walking shoes.
During Commencement activities there is no reserved parking and no permits are needed for any parking lots or spaces except those areas designated for handicapped parking (state-issued handicapped permit required).
Handicap parking is located directly adjacent to the Student Center Complex.
If you have a disability or need special accommodations, King College Campus Security Officers and/or Facilities Services Staff will be available to assist you. For more information or to make arrangements, contact Security at 423-652-4705
Security
Please note that in the interest of security and safety, King College Campus
Security Officers have the authority to request to search any bags carried
by faculty, staff, students, or guests on campus.

Academic Apparel and Graduation Supplies
Academic Apparel
During many of the Commencement activities, graduating students and faculty
will be wearing academic regalia. Please note the following guidelines regarding
appropriate and inappropriate attire while wearing academic regalia:
GENTLEMEN: When in regalia, gentlemen are to wear a white or light-colored,
button-up, long-sleeve dress shirt with a tie; long dark (black or navy blue)
trousers; and dark socks and shoes.
LADIES: When in regalia, ladies are to wear dresses that do not hang
below their gowns, dark shoes, and hose.
PLEASE NOTE: When in regalia, it is not appropriate to wear t-shirts,
sport/polo shirts, shorts, sandals or slides, or athletic shoes.
